Mariculture, commonly referred to as marine farming, specifically pertains to aquaculture conducted in seawater environments and lagoons, distinct from freshwater-aquaculture. Pisciculture, a subtype of it, focuses on fish farming for the production of fish-related products as food.
It can also be refereed to the breeding, nurturing, and harvesting of fish and other aquatic flora, often referred to as water farming.
