August ‘22 was another good month for the shrimp exporters in Bangladesh. There has been a consecutive decline in the shrimp export since 2014, but it ramps up again in the fiscal year of 2021-22.
Exporters fetched $532.94 million by shipping frozen and live fish abroad in FY2021-22, posting growth of 12 percent year-on-year from $477 million previously, data showed from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh.
Currently, shrimp accounts for most of the total exports of the fisheries sector. According to the data from ministry, 74,042 tons of frozen and live fish were exported in the last financial year, of which 30,571 tons were shrimp.
On the other hand, out of the total export earnings of $532.94 million, shrimp alone earned $407.25 million.
In July, 2022; it were about 143 shrimp shipments, whereas in August; it were 173 shipments from the Khulna region of Bangladesh. Now let’s explore the data infographic and see things in detail.
