Aquaponics

Aquaponics is a method of food production that combines aquaculture, involving the cultivation of aquatic animals like fish, crayfish, snails, or prawns in tanks, with hydroponics, which is the practice of growing plants in water. In this system, the nutrient-rich water from aquaculture is supplied to plants cultivated hydroponically.

Since aquaponics builds upon the principles of established hydroponic and aquaculture farming methods, the scale, intricacy, and the range of foods produced within an aquaponic setup can vary significantly, much like systems found in these separate farming approaches.
