Lenk Frozen foods approaching to sustainable shrimp production in Bangladesh with ASC in sight

Luna Shrimp Farms is joining ASC’s Improver Programme with a total number of 125 small-scale farmers, aiming to develop a sustainable supply chain model for Bangladeshi Monodon

Luna shrimp farms is one of the enterprise of Lenk Frozen that aims to produce Bangladeshi Black Tiger shrimp in a sustainable way. As a part of their core mission, Luna shrimp farms is joining ASC’s improver program.

Recently they published a news from their official website stating, Our diligent efforts are beginning to yield results, and we are delighted to announce that in collaboration with ASC’s Improver Programme, a framework designed for credible Aquaculture Improvement Projects (AIPs), we are in the process of introducing the inaugural ASC Group Certification in Bangladesh, which is owned by Luna Shrimp Farms.

Luna Shrimp Farms was established with the aim of enhancing the reputation of Bangladeshi Black Tiger Shrimp. Their primary focus is on streamlining the supply chain from post larvae to final production to promote the well-being of nature, farmers, and consumer health. This aligns seamlessly with ASC’s mission to “transform the aquaculture industry towards environmental sustainability and social responsibility,” as well as their development of the Improver Program. This special initiative caters to farmers who are committed to enhancing their farming practices but have not yet met ASC’s stringent standards.

Currently, they have five clusters, each comprising 25 small-scale farmers, and have provided training while establishing four collection centers to enhance operational efficiency according to their data on the website.

Earlier this year on 5th march, Lenk Frozen foods and a local seafood processing company, Gemini Seafood Ltd of Gemcon group signed a collaboration agreement to promote seafood practices, expand global market presence and improve backward linkage.
