We are in the 2nd quarter of FY 22-23. There have been 103 shipments of shrimp made from Khulna, Bangladesh during October 2022. The export earnings have fallen comparing to the earlier year.

After years of decline in export, the shrimp sector has observed a rise in the export for the first time in many years in FY 20-21. And in FY 21-22, shrimp export alone earned $407.25 million. From the success of the earlier year, it has been set to $500 million for FY 22-23. Now, let’s see where we are standing as of October 2022.

To achieve the $500 million export earnings, the strategic target for July-Oct, 2022-2023 was $150.17 million. Though the export earnings in this period couldn’t meet the target, it is $131.31 million by the end of October 22. Which is 12.56% lower than the target and 27.48% lower than the same period of FY 21-22. During July-Oct, FY 21-22 earning was $181.07 million.
